Dolce & Gabbana generates over 1 billion euros in revenue in latest fiscal year

Dolce & Gabbana is finishing up its 2014/2015 financial year with a flourish, while strengthening its presence in the high-end fashion segment. According to data published by the Milan daily MF Fashion and confirmed by the luxury fashion house, the latter has recorded revenues of 1.03 billion euros for its fiscal year ending on March 31, 2015, up 7.1% from the previous year.
The results can be explained by the strategy put in place by the brand in recent years that focuses on retail expansion and moving further into high-end luxury. Dolce & Gabbana opened 50 stores last year and is planning on 39 new openings this year, including 26 that are directly managed as well as 13 shop-in-shops.
The plans include 10 new stores in China and 3 in the United States. The brand is also establishing itself in Zurich, Brussels, Kuala Lumpur and Johannesburg, South Africa, with its first store on the continent.
Its other line of development involves a focus on the very high-end. For the past three years, the fashion house has aimed to reposition itself in the luxury segment with the development of a new haute couture collection among its various efforts.
It thus launched the line "Alta Moda" for women in July 2012 and the line "Alta Sartoria" for men, the first real collection of which was presented in Milan in January 2015, as reported by FashionMag.com on January 27.
Significant investments have been made in this project and at the same time it has recently put more resources into its haute couture menswear. With this in mind, the company succeeded in restructuring the historical Milanese Palazzo Labus on Corso Venezia, which will host "alta sartoria" for men.
There was already a store on the building’s ground floor, which has had a suit customisation service for men since last June. Now the brand is going a step further, offering made-to-measure services in the atelier dedicated to high-end menswear, with a team of tailors ready to deliver worldwide.
