Zalando launches cyber week deals in customer acquisition drive
E-tail giant Zalando launched a raft of Cyber Week offers on Monday with the company saying the deals aren't just about driving sales but are an important strategic move in boosting its customer acquisition.
The company, which claims more than 29 million active customers, said it's offering a broad selection of brands with up to 70% discounts on in-season fashion and beauty. It plans to unveil flash sales in different categories on each day of Cyber Week, leading up to more than 200,000 items being discounted across its entire assortment on Friday itself.
Its curated shopping service Zalon and shopping club Zalando Lounge will also participate in Cyber Week with their own offers and dedicated campaigns.
The company’s Zalando Fashion store Senior VP of Commercial Business, Moritz Hahn, said Cyber Week has become “a strategically important GMV and customer acquisition driver. This was once again proven by last year’s results. With over 4,200 orders per minute at peak times during Black Friday alone, sales exceeded our already high expectations by far.”
And the company is also aiming to attract not just regular customers, but those who are likely to be much more engaged, as it's offering its Zalando Plus membership at €9.90 instead of €15. Zalando Plus members will also get additional discounts of 10% as an added inducement to sign up.
