NYC takes it large; the first event kicks off with a public fashion show at the Lincoln Center with 50 top models showcasing seven autumn fashion trends from the runway to the high street, hosted by André Leon Talley, Editor-at-large of Vogue. This takes place on Sept 7, welcoming more than 1,500 spectators. American Express cardmembers can see this show from a special viewing area on the building’s seventh floor to compensate those who were unable to get hold of tickets for the show. "We were thrilled that The Show sold out so quickly, but also wanted to do something for the many people who were unable to get tickets," said Anna Wintour, Vogue`s editor in chief, "I think American Express has come up with a great concept for fashion lovers”.

This is followed by a shopping event in 955 stores on Sept 10 during which for example, Barneys will host a karaoke contest judged by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Other highlights include Bergdorf Goodman welcoming appearances from the likes of Tom Ford, Victoria Beckham and Mary J. Blige. Sales proceeds of New York City’s exclusive event t-shirts will go towards NYC Aids Fund.

London does not lay low with 250 shops participating ; Giorgio Armani co-hosts a cocktail party with Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman, Manolo Blahnik launches new Liberty pop-up store, Burberry hosts an in-house acoustic session of emerging British talent, Mulberry opens in Selfridges with shop-in-shop boutique while Chanel offers free express manicures.

Paris dotes on its luxury culture; Louis Vuitton recruits Alice Dellal to play a two-hour DJ set at its flagship store and Chloé’s Avenue Montaigne boutique gives customers while sipping on cocktails to the sound of a DJ an opportunity to bid for a pair of classic Chloé trousers customised by a famous French artist.

Other famous fashion cities also take part; Tokyo sees Hermès open a pop-up shop for scarves at the Omotesando Hills shopping centre; In Milan Stella McCartney lets customers try their hand at modelling as the store's in house photographer shoots Polaroids of them wearing A/W 2010-11 looks; Valentino in Los Angeles throws a one-off casino night on Rodeo Drive which will have food trucks lining the street and a four-storey Ferris wheel on the 200 block. Celebrations for the event also debut in Sydney with 448 retailers taking part.
