The Zuidpassage area will add 11,500 square metres of additional shopping space to the mall, reports Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad. Hoog Catharijne mall, which first opened in 1973, re-opened its doors in the spring of 2017 after a renovation that started in 2012 and offered 17,000 square metres of retail space at the time.

Since the 2017 re-opening, Hoog Catharijne has welcomed a mix of national and international retailers, including Hunkemoller’s HKMX sportswear, Van Haren Schoenen, Amazing Jewelry, Inglot Cosmetics and G-Star. Scottish menswear label Lyle & Scott, which recently entered the Dutch market with a Rotterdam store, will also land at the Utrecht-based mall in October.

In addition to the existing stores and upcoming Zuidpassage, Hoog Catharijne also plans to unveil a Hudson’s Bay and a branch of Primark. The retailers are planned to set up shop in 2019. In total, Hoog Catharijne will offer about 80,000 square metres of shopping space when renovations are completed.
