It will mark the Japanese retailer’s first step into the Vietnamese market. Uniqlo already has a presence in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia with more than 200 stores in the region, and plans to have 400 by 2022.

The first Vietnamese shop is situated on the corner of Le Thanh Ton and Dong Khoi, and occupies three floors and a total of 3,000 sq mts of floor space.

“Uniqlo Dong Khoi is one of our largest Uniqlo stores in Southeast Asia, and we hope it will become a magnetic new focal point of Ho Chi Minh City's lively retail scene,” said Osamu Ikezoe, co-chief operating officer of Uniqlo Vietnam.

“The store will offer both Saigonese people and international visitors a unique shopping experience, with a full line up of LifeWear on three levels.”

To introduce the brand to local consumers, Uniqlo will launch a visual campaign featuring Vietnamese celebrities and personalities. Titled Elevate Everyday, its cast includes actresses Ngo Thanh Van and Thu Anh, footballer Tien Dung, models Helly Tong and Tran Hien, writer Qui Duc and photographer Pixself.

The campaign aims to emphasise how Uniqlo’s LifeWear range meets the needs of those who live in Ho Chi Minh City. Each member of the cast  connects LifeWear to their own unique Ho Chi Minh City moments, offering insight into how LifeWear elevates everyday moments for all in the city.
