Strength and femininity were key themes on display at the Tre by Natalie Ratabesi Resort 2020 presentation on Wednesday in New York.

Shown at 481 Washington Street in lower Manhattan, the Los Angeles-based luxury brand held its first official presentation in an apartment-style space overlooking Hudson Square Park. Inside, models lounged in the show space, complete with kitchen and a few cushy chairs, as streams of natural light flowed in from three large windows.

Helmed by Natalie Ratabesi, the latest from Tre by Natalie Ratabesi showcased the designer's full range of signature high-and-low looks; from jeans and a simple, white, collared shirt to two floor-length, pleated gowns: one in periwinkle and the other in gleaming metallic gold. A dark pink dress was a collection standout, decorated with twin cut-outs at the ribcage and simple draping at the skirt.

Taking cues from Tre's fall 2019 collection, tailoring proved again to be a focal point for Ratabesi. The strong silhouettes featured prominently in black and grey suit-style jumpsuits, and sets and dresses complete with commanding shoulders, as well as ultra-structured pants.

While a distinctive femininity could be seen -- think accessories like waist-cinching belts and black heels --  the label emphasised the sartorial; a cutting black-and-white checkered number, alongside an oversized turtleneck sweater decorated with alternating stripe patterns, rounding out the tailoring. Denim, a favorite of Ratabesi’s, also appeared via artfully tailored jeans in both light and dark washes.

Ratabesi launched Tre in 2017, after a seasoned career working under John Galliano at Dior, Alberta Ferretti at Philosophy, and as a creative director for Yeezy, among other career highlights.

Acting as the label’s founder and creative director, Ratabesi’s business strategy aims to prioritize 'street-meets-chic' looks that women are searching for when designing new pieces.

Tre by Natalie Ratabesi retails at Net-A-Porter, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and Forward by Elyse Walker.
