Tanya Taylor to expand to plus-size clothing

After making her first plus-sized garment for actress and comedian Aidy Bryant, the New York-based designer has decided to launch a full line of plus-sized clothing.

Tanya Taylor’s first capsule collection of plus-sized offerings will be made of just five pieces, including dresses, jackets and blouses rendered in her signature handmade prints. Following the pre-fall capsule collection, Taylor will introduce inclusive sizes into her fall 2017, pre-spring 2018, and spring 2018 collections.

Taylor was first approached to create a plus-sized garment for Saturday Night Live’s Aidy Bryant to wear in a Glamour photoshoot. The actress then wore the design on an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyer, leading to a partnership to evolve between the two. Furthering their relationship, Bryant appeared on The Today Show last week wearing a design from Taylor’s upcoming plus-sized collection.

Born in Toronto, Taylor launched her namesake line in 2012 and was named a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist in 2014. In April of this year, she was invited to take over the CFDA Retail Lab, which allows emerging designers to use the space as a physical store.

Tanya Taylor’s plus-size capsule collection is available on Taylor’s online shop, with prices ranging from $350 for a shirt to $695 for an army jacket.
