Stella McCartney will contribute to the event with a two-part installation. Dutch photographer Viviane Sassen has visualized McCartney’s views on sustainability in a video work, which will be presented on the installation. Furthermore, McCartney will also display a look from her SS2018 collection.

State of Fashion describes designer Vivienne Westwood as one of the pioneers in the fashion industry with regard to how the designer has put sustainability on the industry’s agenda. Westwood’s contribution to the exhibition consists of a custom-made installation, featuring 100 bags and prints from her collaboration with The Ethical Fashion Initiative and the United Nations.

The show will be curated by José Teunissen, Dean at the School of Design & Technology at the London College of Fashion, UAL. In addition to McCartney and Westwood, this year’s exhibition participants include Vetements, G-Star Raw, H&M, Zegna, Bruno Pieters, Osklen and Iris van Herpen.

Along with the exhibition, State of Fashion will also host an international Fashion Colloquium, a two-day conference, as well as a number of activities and events.

State of Fashion 2018 will run from 1 June – 22 July 2018 at De Melkfabriek in Arnhem. The upcoming edition will be the first, and will then be held every four years.
