On Monday, Patagonia announced that it is donating 100 percent of its global Black Friday sales, including in store and online, to grassroots organizations working in local communities to protect the air, water, and soil.

Patagonia donates 1% of global sales to environmental grassroots groups every day and took Black Friday is an opportunity to donate more to organizations. To date, the company has donated $74 million to grassroots environmental organizations.

Rose Marcario, President and CEO of Patagonia, said, “The support we can give is more important now than ever. We'll also provide information in our stores and on our website about how to get in touch with these groups and easily be active in your own communities — on Black Friday and every day. For decades, Patagonia has demonstrated that caring for our planet is not in conflict with running a successful business. We are always looking for ways to further reduce our manufacturing footprint, including our company's reliance on fossil fuels.”

Net-a-Porter is donating 15% of its full-price sales on Black Friday to the White Ribbon Alliance. The Washington DC-based organization aims to decrease maternal and newborn death globally and raise awareness for women at risk of dying in childbirth.

The online retailer chose to partner with the White Ribbon Alliance due to their shared commitment to women’s rights.
