Paris menswear fashion week: Dries Van Noten

The Begian designer unveiled another stunning menswear collection Thursday night in Paris.

After decades in the industy, Dries Van Noten knows his man, and also knows how to keep him coming back for more. There was plenty of the designer's usual line in layered, almost tribal pieces mixed with the control of fine tailoring, but an equal amount of innovation.

His models wore metal choker necklaces with their khaki and navy blue looks in thick cotton, worn under peacoats decorated with reflective grosgrain stripes, metallic clip closures and fur collars.

There was also a martial arts touch to the functional jackets and quilted pants with an elasticated cuff, as well as an all-out military theme with the button-up double-breasted overcoats.

Embellishment this season was inspired by the Miao people from South China, the details including small hammered metal applique patterns, and some two-tone prints that were played off against technical details like the sporty zippers on trouser legs. Pinstriped suiting was slick, the tartan bombers were to die for, and the final flurry of tuxedos included a shining all-satin number.
