Pamela Anderson promotes body positivity in first lingerie collaboration with Coco de Mer

Pamela Anderson is turning her hand to lingerie design, teaming up with UK lingerie label, Coco de Mer, to debut her first co-branded lingerie collection.

The 34-piece collection, entitled ‘Pamela Loves Coco de Mer’,  launched globally on December 6. Featuring an array of silhouettes, from pin-up classics to romantic peep-hole pieces in pink, the luxury label has covered all its bases ahead of the holiday shopping season, offering femme-fatale corsets and bustiers; a sheer embroidered trenchcoat in black; and feminine sets with off-the-shoulder details in lace and dotted mesh panels.

Ever the philanthropist, Anderson told FashionNetwork.com that she wanted women to feel empowered by the collection, the message being that “lingerie can be playful and flattering in all shapes and sizes – [women shouldn’t] be afraid. Leave your securities in your panty drawer. You are good enough,” she says.  “You are sexy, a vixen with a French accent. You deserve to have fun and get your needs met. Just do it!”

Anderson herself plays the role of the sixties seductress in the vintage-styled campaign series, shot by renowned British photographer Rankin.

The label linked up with creative agency The Full Service for the project Photo: Coco de Mer

The collection comes after two previous projects featuring the Canadian-American star since February this year, when managing director Lucy Litwack got in touch to suggest a collaboration.

"I used to shop at the Coco de Mer boutique in LA," Anderson told Fashionnetwork.com.  "When it closed down I was devastated. Then, last year I was in London, and I looked out of my hotel window and right in front of me was the Coco de Mer boutique in Covent Garden! So I went shopping - and then went again the day after and the day after. On the third day, I received a letter from the owner, Lucy and we met up. A perfect collaboration was born! We share so many of the same philosophies and have loved the experience of designing lingerie together." A collection that the multi-talented actress hopes is the first of many to come. "I hope," she adds. "Let’s see how this does first!

The collection is stocked in London at the label's flagship in Covent Garden and at department store Selfridges, and is available online through the label's website.

Prices range from £35 for a thong to £200 for a corset.
