Napapijri is embracing circular fashion, introducing its first 100% recyclable anorak. The Italian outdoor apparel brand owned by VF Corp has launched a ‘green’ version of one of its signature items, the Skidoo anorak, first presented in 1987 and now rechristened ‘Infinity’.

The Skidoo Infinity anorak by Napapijri

Napapijri, a Finnish-sounding name with a Norwegian-flag logo, spent three long years developing the Skidoo Infinity, whose revolutionary innovation lies in its single-material construction. The anorak’s padding and profiles are made with Nylon 6, while the main body is made with Econyl, a regenerated nylon fabric produced by Aquafil, an Italian specialist in synthetic fibres for the textile industry.

Using only one type of material simplifies the recycling process, during which the fibres are processed and reused without losing any of their original properties and qualities. Customers who buy Skidoo Infinity will have the possibility, after two years, of returning the anorak, which will be then reprocessed and transformed into new yarns and products.

“Environmental protection has always been one of Napapijri’s priorities. Now more than ever, we are aware of the urgent issues we need to tackle collectively. Skidoo Infinity is the result of our efforts in combining design, sustainability and innovation to inspire, through a circular process, a change in the role that [the fashion] industry must play for the preservation of the planet and the human race,” said Vicki Bohlbro, senior director global marketing at Napapijri.

The Skidoo Infinity anorak is available in four colours, navy and black for men, white and purple for women, and will go on sale from October 21 at Napapijri's 130 monobrand stores and over 2,200 multibrand retailers in more than 40 countries.
