Marc Jacobs has relaunched its menswear line. After a troubled period, which led the US label to discontinue its young, affordable Marc by Marc Jacobs line, and then to stop menswear altogether in 2017, Marc Jacobs is back with a men's collection. The new range is positioned within The Marc Jacobs, the affordable line launched by the eponymous US designer earlier this year, with a strong focus on collaborations.

It seems to be a low-key come-back, glimpsed through a series of images posted in the last few days on the New York label’s Instagram account. About 30 items are already available on The Marc Jacobs’s e-shop, and can be viewed by clicking on ‘the men’s collection’.

It looks more like a discreet extension of The Marc Jacobs’s women’s range, featuring gender-neutral items styled in more masculine volumes, like t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, tracksuits and broad-striped knitwear, as well as a pair of sneakers. Prices range from €130 for a t-shirt to €250 for a sweatshirt, €330 for a pullover, €1,770 for a cashmere hoodie and €1,440 for a leather letterman jacket. The line also includes corduroy trousers, silk shirts and jackets.

Last month, The Marc Jacobs opened its first European store in the Marais district in Paris, and is keen on collaborations. Notably, one featuring the Snoopy, Lucy and Charlie Brown characters from the ‘Peanuts’ cartoon strip, and another with artist Magda Archer, whose child-like drawings are reproduced on jacquard sweaters in a palette of acid and pastel hues.
