London-based swimwear brand Prism has opened its first US retail location in the form of a summer pop-up shop at Culver City's Platform.

Founder Anna Laub said LA made the top of her list for US expansion because she's "been spending time in Los Angeles for the last couple of years, and there is a lot of movement here. It’s having a fashion moment, with lots of young creatives moving in.”

LA is having a huge fashion upswing, most recently hitting the map with Dior's safari-themed cruise show in Calabasas. Laub continued her praise for LA, saying that it is “geographically diverse, and my brand is about being outdoors.” The brand's creative direction is based in Laub's love for warm, sunnier climates and a minimal aesthetic, making LA a natural match.

The footprint of Prism's Platform pop up store occupies 650 square feet. The location at 8850 Washington Blvd. in Culver City opened last week and offers a full range of product with price points from $75 to $300.

Laub explained how this location is different from Prism's other retail locations, saying “The other places... have a small selection. It will be nice to set the stage and create my own environment.”

Beachwear, swimwear, sunglasses and sandals will be available. The pop-up shop will also utilize the store as a US distribution center so online orders will be fulfilled through the store, without international duties or taxes.

Prism was launched in 2009 in London as an eyewear line by Laub, who is a former fashion editor. She has since expanded the brand to include swim and footwear product lines, all of which are made across Europe.

The pop up shop will be open through the end of August.
