London-based label Wen Pan wins Fashion Scout Merit Award

London-based eponymous fashion brand Wen Pan has been announced as the winner of Fashion Scout’s Merit Award, which recognises a talented designer with exceptional potential.

The womenswear designer will receive a fully sponsored catwalk show with Fashion Scout during the upcoming edition of London Fashion Week. Taking place at Victoria House in Bloomsbury Square, the space will also provide an opportunity to host press and buyers. 

Fashion Scout creative director Martyn Roberts commented: “We are extremely excited to award Wen Pain the SS20 Merit Award following the exceptional AW19 collection presented at the Selection Panel

“Her brand was an easy decision for the judging panel to award Merit to, due to her originality and beautiful draping and pattern cutting skills. Fashion Scout are excited to give Wen Pan the opportunity to continue building the brand and profile on a global scale.”

The judging panel, composed of industry experts including Martyn Roberts; Constanza Lombardi, buyer at Browns; and Niamph Tuft from Fashion Revolution, selected Wen Pan from hundreds of applicants.

Now in its third season, Wen Pan has shown previously in Shanghai and Paris, is stocked in major global retailers including Opening Ceremony, Espejto, Ymoynot, YoungBritishDesigners, Chushi and Selfridges, where her AW19 work is currently part of the Design Gallery Installation. Her work has been internationally recognised by publications and platforms such as Vogue, View, Stylist, China Times, Essential Homme, S Eleven Magazine, Textile View and Lovesome.

Commenting on the award win, Wen Pan said: “It is such an honour to receive the Fashion Scout Merit Award. I feel very grateful to have this great opportunity, which provide a wonderful platform to share my point of view about beauty and femininity: a delicate balance between prettiness and roughness.”
