Lindex, the Swedish high street fashion brand, is expanding into a new market: shoppable social media. The label just announced that it's introducing an Instagram shop.

The retailer said that the initiative is part of its focus on creating a seamless shopping experience across all channels, and that the shoppable Instagram will make it easy for its customers to be inspired and to shop. Lindex has been on Instagram since 2013 and has 140,000 followers.

"Instagram is an important source of inspiration for our customers. We see a large and growing product engagement on Instagram and it’s a way for us to offer our customers to shop in an easy and convenient way from our Instagram feed," says Johan Hallin, Marketing Director at Lindex.

The company called the initiative "yet another step in Lindex' journey to strengthen the digital presence and to enhance the shopping experience."

Instagram shops are becoming more popular as retailers target social-media savvy millennials. Last year, European luxury e-tailer Mytheresa.com also introduced a new Instashop.
