Designer brand Jil Sander has opened a newly designed shop in high-end department store Harrods in London.

The 90 sq m space, developed in partnership with British architect John Pawson, uses timber walls to provide an uncluttered and uninterrupted backdrop for the brand’s designs.

A fitting room door blends invisibly into the timber planks, while a bright-toned cement floor with a tone-on-tone micro-terrazzo texture and a pair of mirrors help reflect light.

The shop-in-shop presents the latest women’s clothing and accessories collection designed by Lucie and Luke Meier, the husband-wife duo who helm the brand. Since joining Jil Sander in 2017, the design power couple has been responsible for bringing a fresh modernity to the house’s signature codes, reinvigorating a label that has been synonymous with minimalism since the 80s.

Founded in Hamburg and now headquartered in Milan, Jil Sander is now owned by Tokyo-listed apparel group Onward Holdings Co. and its European subsidiary Gibo Co. S.p.A.
