Retail giant Go Outdoors has temporarily rebranded itself as Go Indoors as part of a campaign urging consumers to stay at home.

The coronavirus outbreak has forced the retailer, which sells outdoor clothing, tents and camping equipment, to close its stores across the UK but the company continues to operate an online store.

The Stay at Home campaign is designed to support the NHS following a spell of warm weather during the weekend. According to the Department for Transport, there was also a "concerning" rise in car use last week.

In addition to the name change, Go Indoors has launched a series of free online activities to inspire families during the lockdown. These tutorials on bike maintenance, product videos and fun ideas to keep children entertained.

Customers are encouraged to share their videos or photos of their projects, from crafting to camping in the back garden, using the the hashtag #GOindoors.

Talking about the campaign, Go Outdoors CEO Lee Bagnall, said: “We understand that this is a challenging time for everyone, as we temporarily adapt to a completely new way of living. However, our message to our customers is simple and mirrors that of the government – stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives."

"Who would have thought just a few weeks ago we would have rebranded in such a way, and even changed our logo? We want to inspire the UK to have fun and adventure, in a safe manner, no matter what your ability is, it’s the ethos that our staff and customers have shared for many years. From camping indoors to star spotting from your bedroom window.”
