She replaces Murray Lambell, who held the post since 2020. He too has been promoted, becoming global general manager of home, garden and refurbished categories at the platform. Lambell will be based at eBay’s European headquarters in Bern, Switzerland.

Since joining eBay in December 2020, Williams has overseen eBay’s partnerships with massively popular TV series Love Island, as well as last year’s ‘The eBay Way’ marketing campaign.

Williams joined Ebay from ASOS, where she was global brand director for seven years, overseeing marketing and customer programmes, creative strategy, content planning, consumer comms and social media output.

eBay global markets senior VP Jordan Sweetnam called Williams’ promotion “well deserved” and said she’s taking up the post “to lead our UK business, representing our second-largest global market.”

"[Williams] is the ideal candidate for the job, bringing a wealth of cross-functional experience to the UK leadership role, including as UK CMO where she transformed the way we understand and engage British customers.”

And the new general manager added: “In the UK, millions of people use our platform to buy and sell every day, while hundreds of thousands of small businesses across the country use [it] to reach millions of customers across all our key categories whether that’s car parts & accessories, homewares, preloved fashion or refurbished tech.”
