DHL Exported is off with its second edition. The programme launched in 2014 by the express shipping company and sports and events giant IMG are offering 4 new designers an international tour: Germany' Marcel Ostertag, Canada's Sid Neigum, Japan's Atsushi Nakashima and the Anglo-Portuguese brand Marques'Almeida.

The selected designers will have the possibility to show off the AW16/17 collection in February, and their SS17 collection in September on the official New York and London Fashion Weeks, at Milan's Milano Moda Donna and at the Mercedes-Benz Tokyo Fashion Week.

Along with a guaranteed spot on the event’s schedule, and the two fully funded and produced runway shows, DHL will also provide logistics advice and cover international shipping and exporting of hard goods related to delivering the collection to New York, London, Milan or Tokyo for the designers’ runway debut.

Germany's Marcel Ostertag will kick off the rounds of events in New York in February 2016. Based in Munich, the designer, who studied at Central Saint Martins in London, launched his brand in 2006 and normally shows on the runway in Berlin.

Next up, in London, Canada's Sid Neigum, who studied in New York, presented his first collection in March 2011 at Toronto Fashion Week, Toronto also being where he works and lives. At the beginning of September he showed in Milan as part of the collective "On Stage" show held by Woolmark and the Milano Unica textile trade show.

Japan's Atsushi Nakashima will show in Milan. After having earned his diploma from the Nagoya Fashion College in 2001, the designer worked for Jean Paul Gaultier. In 2011, he launched his own ready-to-wear brand that showed for the first time in Tokyo in February 2012. He has also collaborated with Jil Sander.

Finally, Marques'Almeida will travel to Tokyo and its fashion week. The ready-to-wear brand launched in 2011 by Portugal's Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida in London, where the duo attended Central Saint Martins, won the LVMH prize this year.

This "DHL Exported Cycle Two" hopes to achieve the same success as the first edition. Indeed, the programme allowed last year's selected designers to increase their visibility and attract new customers.

Italy's Francesca Liberatore, for example, who was invited to show in New York last year, saw her online sales jump 400%, while New York's Nicholas K, who showed in Milan, increased his sales by 50%, said the competition's organisers.
