In an unlikely marriage, Coach and Rodarte have come together to release a handbag and apparel line in April. The collection, while still very much under wraps, will include one handbag and an apparel line with fourteen items.

The collaboration is the fruit of a close friendship between the Mulleavy sisters (the two minds behind Rodarte), and Stuart Vevers, who sits at the helm of Coach. According to the fashion press, the partnership will look to mixing inspiration from both New York, where Coach is based, and Los Angeles, where Rodarte was born.

Coach has been launching myriad collaborations and new store events this year to celebrate the brand’s 75th anniversary. After launching an extravagant new technology-driven flagship, pairing up with Selena Gomez, and throwing a huge anniversary party, this new collaboration is just another effort by Coach to inject new life into the brand.

Rodarte, known as one of the indie darlings of the fashion world for Laura & Kate Mulleavy’s ethereal designs, has worked with more mainstream brands before – first a collection with Target in 2009, then a collection with & Other stories in the Spring of 2016.
