Bebe Stores Q1 earnings fall, warns on Q2

Nov 6 (Reuters) - Women's apparel retailer Bebe Stores Inc reported a 25 percent fall in quarterly earnings, October comparable sales that were down 20 percent and projected a weak second quarter were current trends to continue.

The mall-based retailer forecast second-quarter earnings of 12 cents to 16 cents a share, below analysts' average expectations of 18 cents a share.

Brisbane, California-based Bebe also reduced the number of new stores planned to 20 from 24 and expects to cut capital spending below $30 million compared with earlier the forecast of $32 million.

Bebe shares were down 5 percent at $7.00 in trading after the bell, after closing at $7.39 on Nasdaq.
