After her clothing line the Canadian is getting ready to launch her first fragrance. The perfume, christened Black Star, is the result of a partnership with the marketing giant Procter & Gamble and comes complete with a low price tag to help win over Avril’s fans and the younger members of the public in general.

“Young consumers love her, she has a very special relationship with the public,” explained Heike Hindenlang, director of global marketing for prestige products and womenswear at Procter & Gamble. He added, “adolescents like to try new things, they like to buy smaller bottles of perfume rather than large ones”.

That is why the smallest version of Black Star will be sold in 15ml bottles at €16, but it will also be available in 30, 50 and 100ml at €24, €33 an €49 respectively.

In pink and black packaging (the favourite colours of the singer) the “fresh, young and edgy” Black Star presents itself as an olfactory representation of Avril Lavigne. The perfume will be released in Europe in July and will be followed by body lotion, deodorant and shower gel.
