Trump, international brands are focus at women's market in Las Vegas

The women’s market season kicked off in Las Vegas on Monday with WWDMagic, FN Platform, Project Womens, Curve Las Vegas and others. The Las Vegas and Mandalay Bay Convention Centers will host the market week featuring new show activations and seminars about pressing issues in the industry.


WWDMagic will begin at the Las Vegas Convention Center on February 21

 
Sourcing at Magic commenced on Monday, February 20 and will host seminars throughout the week, including Africa: Focus Continent, discussing why fashion sourcing is shifting to Africa with the recent renewal of the African Growth and Opportunity Act; Wearable Tech is Still Hot where designer Sylvia Heisel, Peter Sylvester of LIDT, and Cliff Ulrich of Richline Group discuss the next line of wearables and where attendees can witness live demonstrations of fabric printing and 3D printing; and Roll Out the Red Carpet for Hollywood where costume designers Kairo Courts and Tiffany Hasbourne use fashion to tell a story and set trends.
 
The trade show will also host a seminar devoted to President Trump and his potential impact on various free trade agreements and international trade relationships. Trade show Kingpins hosted a similar panel discussion on Trump’s impact on the industry this month.

FN Platform will also hold a seminar discussing Trump’s impact, as well as what’s to come in the industry in the near future. Dov Charney, Mark Burnstein, President of NGS Software, Erik D. Smithweiss, Partner at GDLSK LLP and Vincent Iacopella, EVP of Alba Group will kick off the trade show by sharing their views and opinions on the future of the industry.
 
French Pavilion, a new feature for the show, will be held outside of Paris’ Première Classe for the first time, and will introduce 10 brands from France to Las Vegas, including Elodie Bruno, Gordana Dimitrijevic, Maison Jour Ferie, Le Flow Paris, Pairs in Paris and among others. In addition, Pensole Academy will host its biannual competition, but this time to find the best 3D designers in the footwear industry.
 
WWDMagic begins on February 21 and will unveil a new look that will stimulate the five senses. The new show environment features modern, colorful and eclectic designs, including redesigned lounges such as the blogger social house and new DJ Lounge, and sleek design finishes.
 
Curve celebrates its 10-year anniversary this season at Project Womens, the trade show it has partnered with in the previous season. Finally, ready-to-wear shows Stitch and Pooltradeshow and children’s show Children’s Club Magic round out the market week.
 
The Las Vegas shows will run through Thursday, February 23.
