Samsung launches new menswear line in Italy

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its men’s clothing line Galaxy, launched in Korea in 1983, Samsung announced its ambitions in the fashion sector. The South Korean group has just revealed GX1983, its new menswear brand.

Manufactured in Milan, the new collection will be primarily destined for the Italian market. But Samsung Cheil Industries (Samsung’s fashion affiliate) has said that it also plans to expand the brand into other European countries at a later stage.

The look of GX1093 will be a mix between casual and sportswear, or in their own words a “Hybrid Classic”, whilst taking into account the sartorial tradition of Italian men’s fashion. Offering a complete wardrobe, the collection will also include a small leather accessories line.

“The objective is to sell the line in good quality multi-brand stores”, said Samsung Cheil Industries’ vice president Changkun Park. The latter arrived at Samsung in 2007 after having worked for Gillette (in Korea and Singapore) and also Levi’s (in Korea and Japan).
