SAO PAULO, Feb 26, 2008 (AFP) - British former supermodel Naomi Campbell successfully underwent emergency surgery for an undisclosed abdominal problem in Brazil this week, one of the team that operated on her in Sao Paulo told media.

"I'm not authorized to reveal what Naomi had, nor its gravity. But I can say that I operated on her on Monday and that she is completely healed," doctor Jose Aristodemo Pinotto, a gynecological specialist, told the website of the newspaper O Estado de Sao Paulo.

"I am already allowing her to get out of bed," he added.

Campbell, 37, was recovering in the Sirio-Libanes Hospital in the city, where she was admitted late Monday.

"It was an emergency operation, but all went well. There was no incident whatsoever nor any sort of problem that caused any worry during the surgery," Pinotto said.

"We used a laparoscopy (a tiny micropscope inserted inside the body), without need to do the traditional method that would have required opening the abdomen," he said.

A Brazilian specialist in infectious diseases, David Uip, is in charge of Campbell's care.

The hospital did not immediately issue any bulletin on the state of the famous patient.
