The convention itself will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel; visitors will be welcomed at the Maastricht town hall and the gala dinner will take place at Chateau St. Gerlach in Valkenburg. According to the convention organizers, Maastricht is an excellent backdrop for the 34th edition of the World Fashion Convention, emphasizing the city’s fashion consciousness, creativity, international character and close proximity to world class logistic and material science hubs.

Jurgen Moors, director of the Maastricht Convention Bureau said: “As a city and as a region we are glad to contribute to the success of this convention, mainly because it helps to internationally position the fashion and creative industries. These industries are both well-established in Maastricht.”

The IAF is a global federation uniting fashion industry associations, brands, retailers and suppliers. Through the convention, the IAF offers a place for the fashion industry professionals to meet and to be informed by top national and international speakers. Previous speakers have come from companies, such as  PVH, H&M, Hugo Boss, Desigual, Disney, VF, Zegna, Esquel and Escada, as well as McKinsey, BCG, the ILO, the World Bank and the OECD.

In recent years host cities included: Mumbai, Mexico, Rio de Janeiro, Medellin, Hong Kong, New Delhi and Shanghai. It will be the second time for Maastricht to stage the World Fashion convention, which hosted the event for the first time in 2008.
