The standalone store will open at Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre, where a number of first-to-Canada luxury retailers have chosen to set up shop. It will be approximately 3,000 square feet and will carry a range of Bottega Veneta products for both women and men, including ready-to-wear, handbags, luggage, small leather goods, shoes, fragrances and eyewear.

The company said in a statement that the new boutique will be “an elegant reflection of the brand’s defining qualities since its foundation in 1966 in the Veneto region of Italy: outstanding craftsmanship, timeless yet innovative design, contemporary functionality and the highest quality materials.”

Currently, the luxury brand operates a smaller Bottega Veneta boutique at Vancouver International airport, but this will be its first flagship in the country.

Bottega Veneta bags and accessories can also be found at Holt Renfrew locations in Canada, as well as at Saks Fifth Avenue at CF Toronto Eaton Centre, where Saks operates a licensed Bottega Veneta accessory boutique.

The brand is owned by French luxury conglomerate Kering, which also controls Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Brioni among other luxury brands. Bottega Veneta operates stores globally including almost 30 in the United States.

Most recently, long-term creative director Tomas Maier parted ways with the company. Kering Group has since named Daniel Lee as the new creative director of Bottega Veneta.

He joins Bottega Veneta from Kering’s rival group LVMH, where he was most recently Director of Ready-to-Wear at Céline
